Thomas Braidwood Wilson was my Scottish gt-gt-gt-uncle and I was so delighted to discover this book was available. He was a very well educated man and this comes through clearly in his writing of this book. His descriptive account of his ship wreck and hazardous journey to Timor and travels through undiscovered regions of Australia so interesting. At one stage he was doctor to King George IV and then his sense of adventure took him many times across to the other side of the world where he finally settled with his family in Australia. Being able to access this historic book was wonderful because of family history recorded within.
An important book to add to everyone's library. A history of a new country recorded first hand by the writer. Very well written and documented from his own personal experience exploring new territory and meeting the indigenous people. Displaying great skill in communicating with these aboriginals and developing a written language. Surviving a ship wreck added to the dramas experienced. An excellent read.
